Yet another scorcher

Another blisteringly hot day, which made for difficult digging conditions as everything dried out and baked in the hot sun. Our overnight damping down and covering with tarpaulin strategy paid off and enabled us to get a quick photo clean in on one area, whilst elsewhere Alan was drawing yet another section:

Steve flew his drone to get the site photos, it is quite strange to see a little buzzing gizmo flying around getting all the amazing overhead shots:

Back in the day the only way of getting overheads was to persuade the crew of Oscar Charlie to take you up for a spin, pretty sure you wouldn't be allowed to do this nowadays:

While Steve was busy with his photos most of our team headed up to our friends who are digging at Skaill Farm for a site tour, and the afternoon saw a return visit to us from the Skaill dig team:

The other big news of the day is that our very own Michal graduated today with a first class honours degree (in Archaeology of course!) and you have to admit he scrubs up very well:

There cheering him on was our finds supremo Talia, we very kindly let them both have time off so they could head down for the ceremony:

That's us off now for our days off, really hoping that the weather will cool down a bit and that we'll have some gentle rain to make everything more workable.
