Star Find of the day is this second piece of the shale mount from a couple of days ago, recovered from Harry's sludge by the wet sievers:

Here it is reunited with the other piece, it had broken across one of the drilled holes:

We had John Gater back doing a piece for Time Team, filming a site tour from Jackie with an attentive audience:

We also had Radio Orkney's reporter Ellie out to visit us today, unfortunately just as she arrived the rain started to come down quite hard and had grounded our drones that were taking site photos. We were a bit worried that her equipment wouldn't survive the conditions but all was fine and the piece is going to be on the radio in the morning, ahead of our open day on Sunday.

Full waterproofs and woolly hats were the order of the day for a while, but eventually the rain eased off.

John and Jackie were still at it for Time Team in a different area:

It was Wendy's last day on site today, and she was hard at it carefully cleaning some of the animal bones from this year's excavation:

And yes, you guessed it, John and Jackie were still filming, here interviewing Gerry about his metal working area complete with yet another anvil and hearth:

That's us off for a couple of days but we have out Open Day on Sunday, all welcome, follow the instructions on our website for how to find us.
