Polishing stones and midge bites

Another hot and muggy day but fewer midges than previously, just as well as everyone is busy scratching bites from 2 days ago, amazing how the little so and so's can get through clothing and up your trouser legs etc. Anyway Caz got star find of the day early on with this (broken) granite polishing stone, not very photogenic but lovely and smooth to the touch:

This was one of three polishing stones found in a small area in structure 5, which seems to have functioned as a workshop for part of its lifespan.
Elsewhere on site the early clear weather found everyone hard at it for one of the periodic photo cleans:

We started out spraying the site to damp it down but we were soon getting properly wet by the rain and having to wait for it to dry up so we could fly the drones. Back to work straight after, here's Jack on another busman's holiday from his day job as a field archaeologist:

It was the last day on site for three of our American volunteers, Bernadette, Allison and Dawn, the last ride home in the site Landy commemorated by Bernadette's selfie:

Not forgetting Caz the driver who didn't quite fit in shot:

And here's a little video of everyone busy with the photo clean to finish off with:
That's us off for our days off and a bit of R & R, see you Sunday!
