Cooler weather means much happier archaeologists

Back on site after our days off, cooler weather and a bit of rain over the weekend means that everything's much more workable, Rose was certainly happy to be back in her area:

Today we welcomed back our archaeometallurgist Dr Gerry McDonnell who in addition to doing a bit of digging is going to have a look at some of the residues from last year's furnace excavation:

Wendy was carefully colour co-ordinating with her drying boxes in the finds trailer:

And back on site Alan was drawing yet another section, but in his cap rather than his anti-sun headdress:

And finally another of our returning (now-ex) students arrived back today, Aidan fresh from his graduation at the University of Bradford last week, we have plenty of animal bones for him to work on as that's his speciality:
