Sweltering Sunday

The heatwave continues and everyone was sweltering away on site not helped by the attack of the killer cleggs (horseflies to those of you who don't live in an area once frequented by Vikings), nasty things that can bite you even through clothing.
Harry was happy though, finding both a bone pin and a whetstone in quick succession:

Dawn, one of our volunteers all the way from America, celebrated her first day on site by finding this sweet little bone pin:

Alice, not to be outdone, went for more stone, with this chunky socket stone:

We're all glad to have Alan Braby back on site too, since, in addition to his excavation skills in his day job he's a professional archaeological illustrator, and if he's here it means that no-one else has to draw any sections or elevations, and since we have a fair few sections on the go at the moment his skills will come in very handy:
