Bit of a breezy day today but at least dry and sunny, not as breezy as yesterday when the boats to Egilsay and Wyre were cancelled due to the wind, spoiling the day off outing plans of a few of the team. Anyway it made a change not to be getting wet as well as blown about, and there was some fairly impressive surf rolling in to shore:

Work continued on cleaning up the roundhouse, which was looking a lot better for having dried out a bit:

We've also had our first star finds of the day with Jonathan and Michal producing a couple of decent pieces of worked whalebone, here's one:

And the other:

And here's Julie (that's site co-director Dr Julie Bond) taking a closer look at them both:

Finally a big thanks to Zoe Davidson of Zoe Davidson Jewellery who very kindly let us use her ultrasonic cleaner to attempt to loosen a jammed eyepiece for our total station, unfortunately it didn't work so we've had to have a replacement sent up to us, and ours is heading back to Bradford for some TLC. Still it was a good excuse to pop in to Zoe's new shop in Stromness and have a look at her work:
