Dig diary 28th July: introducing our artist in residence

We've been a little remiss in not keeping you updated with the outstanding work of our artist in residence, Klaudia K, who's been with us since the start of the dig. She is currently engaged in an open-ended, non-disciplinary, non-representational, real-time, long-duration art & life research project. As a multi-media artist she is particularly pleased with the work pictured below, snappily entitled:

'The physical impossibility of backfilllling in the mind of the recalcitrant digger'

'The physical impossibility of backfilllling in the mind of the recalcitrant digger' at Swandro

Interviewed about her work by your humble philistine of a blog author, Klaudia explained her influences: 'When I am working, I am aware of a striving, a yearning, the making of many impossible attempts at a kind of transmutation – a searching for a formula for the magic conjuring of the unknowable. Many times the end seems just within reach, only to fly to pieces before me as I reach for it' .

Klaudia has very kindly donated this work to raise much-needed funds for the 2019 excavation, if you would like to make an offer for it please email us - shipping can be arranged. N.B. we do need the barrows for backfilling so you'll have to wait until after the 3rd of August - we just need to round up our recalcitrant diggers from the pub!

If you use social media we would appreciate it if you would use the Facebook & Twitter share buttons below to share this dig diary post - thank you!
