Backfilling is now complete - top half of the site heavily sandbagged, bottom half filled with rock, hadn't realised how impressive it looked until Steve took some drone pics:
Quite the contrast to how it looked during excavation and the 'before backfilling' shot shows you just how much we have to shift:
It just remains to thank everyone who contributed to this year's excavation, including all of our friends in Rousay and everyone who supported us by making a donation and of course all of our volunteers and returnees. We are now all off to scrub the worst of the dirt off and return to real life until we hopefully all meet again on site next year.
